Error: "User canceled document picker" after selecting file

Hello everyone!
After selecting files or one file instead of their selecting, the library throws the error "User canceled document picker". It began to throw this error after the MIUI Xiaomi wrapper was updated. I checked permissions for READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - they set as true.
Phone: Xiaomi Redmi note 9
Android 11
MIUI 12.0.1.0 Stable

On another phone (Huawei) the same code works fine.

Are there any ideas about what went wrong ?:(

hello folks, let me just say that thanks to the fact that you have the devices that exhibit that issue / bug, it means you are in the best position to fix the bug.

@vonovak At the same time please keep in mind that a lot of RN devs are not Java native devs and thus are simply not capable of solving this issue. Also I'm getting a lof of reports from users that they can't select files, which doesn't mean I have a device on-hand with the same issue.

Resolved today.
Nothing wrong with document picker. It is your phone's settings.
Just go to Settings -> Additional Settings -> Developer Option -> Turn on MIUI optimization (enable it)
Note - If not see the option "Turn on MIUI optimization" then click "Reset to default values" 4-5 times. It will enable the option.

I do acknowledge that, but as a programmer (and more generally, a person), it is sometimes necessary to get out of one's "comfort zone" to learn new stuff and fix a problem - that might include working with android apis even though I may have never done that before. Personally, when I started with RN, I only knew Java and programming in general. I lerned JS and iOS programming along the way... :)

I also acknowledge that. My response was directed toward the OP and another user who saw the error who likely had access to affected ​devices.
