I think we should get this via the upstream merge of vscode-server?

I believe the upstream merge in #8562 is done now, right? It looks like we don't have this change yet on main:

I checked locally and don't have 1.5.55. I think during the upstream merge for vscode-server, it didn't have the extension updated. We might have left it out so that this automation would create the update PR's for Positron and vscode-server.

Edit: I think I remember what happened in the upstream merge. The version we had was greater than in vscode-server so we kept our higher version. We probably merged 1.5.52 and vscode-server was on something older.
