Raspberry Pi 5 Compatibility

Greetings. Wonderful product you have here and im trying to make it work on my Raspberry Pi 5. After "pip install trackball", I am able to see the trackball through "i2cdetect -y 1" called 0a. However it seems that none of the scripts are working, I am encountering "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'RPi" on mouse.py or read-all.py. For evdev-mouse.py, I get no module named 'evdev' and it seems that there is no more python-evdev on apt for bookworm 6.6.y. Can anybody lead me to the right direction? Thanks and best regards!

Hello, I just found some time to test this and unfortunately this still isnt working. I followed instructions by doing:

git clone https://github.com/pimoroni/trackball-python -b repackage
cd trackball-python
./install.sh --unstable

source .virtualenvs/pimoroni/bin/activate
cd Pimoroni/trackball/examples
sudo ./install.sh

./evdev-mouse.py gives this result

sudo ./evdev-mouse.py says
ModuleNotFoundError: no module named 'trackball'

If anybody out there has made this work raspberry pi5 pls I need your help. Thanks

Ok so i found a way to fix all of the examples (mouse.py read-all.py etc) except evdev-mouse.py (the most important one) by removing the line interrupt_pin=4 on trackball(interrupt_pin=4) so it ended up as trackball() and it worked!

How do I fix this? evdev cant seem to find the python module called trackball even though i have it installed.

I think the answer is something like:

sudo --preserve-env=PATH /home/user/trackball-python/examples/evdev-mouse.py

Which is roughly analogous to:

sudo /home/user/.virtualenvs/pimoroni/bin/python /home/user/trackball-python/examples/evdev-mouse.py

IE: when you run something as sudo you're no longer running the Python version in your Virtual Environment, so packages installed there can't be found.
