dragEvent not working (ubuntu 12.04)

OpenFrameWorks 0073 on Ubuntu 12.04

I tried to build eventsExample from the examples folder

Everything runs smoothly, except for dragEvent. I tried dragging some files, but the app does nothing. It simply doesn't work.

Is this a bug? Or am I doing something wrong?

dragEvent is not implemented in linux yet, there's no standard way of doing it through xwindows and the current libary we use for creating the window, glut doesn't have a method to do it

that would be useful but the problem is where? if we could detect a drag to log a message we would be doing the drag event :)

I had some code that enabled drag and drop for a specific app on ubuntu. I'll try to dig it up and maybe I can do something with it. but I am busy until next week...

I only get a drag event if I release the file over the oF window - so it is more like a drop event. Is it supposed to send signals before releasing? (on Ubuntu 12.04)

There's not much on the web about OF dragged support on Linux and this thread might be a good place for future reference... So here I am, years later, wondering if something happens for the implementation of such behaviors on OF 9.8 and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS because I still have zero event fired on ofApp::dragged(ofDragInfo &info).

this is working now, the correct syntax is:

void ofApp::dragEvent(ofDragInfo dragInfo){ 

}

also in ubuntu there's sometimes an strange effect where you have to stay in the destination window for a moment before releasing the mouse button, it's something related with unity (the window manager) and happens in other applications.
