I also posted a pull request: micropython/stm32lib#25 .
I will update .gitmodule when this pull request is merged.
Testing
but not tested all peripherals.
Trade-offs and Alternatives
There is no negative impact because this pull request does not change board definitions and implementation of other MCUs.

This PR contains following PR because it is needed to implement DAC for STM32U5.#17743
