Search box obscured by lower panel in cinnamon

Can we just bump the search box up a bit (or maybe move it altogether to a different location?

I believe this is a problem in cinnamon rather than nemo. See linuxmint/cinnamon#1074

@mtwebster : closing this at it is indeed a cinnamon bug
