This PR would change the default behaviour on EL boxes, where /var/mail is Other consideration is whether Ubuntu expects Dovecot to run as a different user or to use a different directory? It may be that we need to change the templates a bit when running on Ubuntu OS. |

I don't have a EL box to test it on my side, you are saying that it has chmod 755, but does it have the sticky bit? |

Dovecot was not able to access the /var/mail folder on a fresh 16.04 installation without this.
