Following on the release of Linux arm64 hosted runners, the GitHub-hosted runner portfolio is expanding to include arm64 hosted runners for free in public repositories. These runners will be fully managed by GitHub with a base image containing a foundational set of tools. These runners offer a power efficient compute layer which can increase price to performance ratios, allowing users to optimize compute costs.
Expected Outcome
You can use arm64 runners to refactor your applications to take advantage of the price performance benefits of ARM architecture. You can now run their workloads on Arm-based hardware hosted by GitHub to build and deploy your release assets anywhere Arm’s architecture is used. These new runners provide power, performance & sustainability improvements for all your Actions jobs.
