I'm having the same problem.
Need a way to add a badCertificateCallback to validate the URL and accept the connection.

Something like this:
client.badCertificateCallback = ((X509Certificate cert, String host, int port) {
final isValidHost = host == 'valid.url.com';
return isValidHost;
});
