Hey @jasonlewis - is the only reason this package required php 5.4 because you use array brackets, or is there another reason?

I suppose this is reason enough. Also PHP5.5 is almost stable and people should move away from 5.3 as quickly as possible.

Too be completely honest with you here. I would encourage people to start requiring >= 5.5.

Yeh, I agree. I force people to use php 5.4+ for my packages too, even if I don't really need it.

I didnt say I was not in support of this, but when your trying to use this on a server that is not running that version, and a production environment is in play, its a little out of the question sometimes... so the reason for my question was mainly : can I replace all the [] arrays with an ( array() ) or is there any core functionality that would not be compatible that I need to know of...

Let's not go nuts here people. Using 5.4 is these days fair enough for a new package, but just randomly forcing people onto newer versions willy nilly is a dick move. We're not here to shout EAT YOUR GREENS at people, and not everyone gets the newest shiniest things immediately. Reason and logic plays a huge part in this.

5.3 is EOL. I never intended on supporting it. That's all there is to it.

I’m sure you guessed, but my reply was to the chatter in this thread and not to you. 5.4 is cool beans for a new package.

@ryanhungate There may also be a few other things like method()[0] or (new Foo)->bar(), but that may just be in testing.
