User Guide

The Text Editor is a versatile tool that allows you to create, edit, and format text documents with ease. This user guide will walk you through the various features and functionalities of the Text Editor, enabling you to make the most out of this powerful application.

🚀 Getting Started

  1. Installation: Ensure that you have the Text Editor application installed on your device. If not, download and install it from the official website or app store.

  2. Launch the Application: Open the Text Editor application by double-clicking on its icon or selecting it from your applications menu.

📂 Opening and Saving Files

  1. Open a File: To open an existing file, click on the "File" menu and select "Open" or use the corresponding keyboard shortcut. In the file selection dialog, navigate to the desired file and click "Open". The file's content will be loaded into the Text Editor for editing.

  2. Save a File: To save the content of the active tab as a file, click on the "File" menu and select "Save" or use the keyboard shortcut. In the file save dialog, choose a location and provide a file name. Click "Save" to save the file with the specified name and location.

✏️ Editing and Formatting Text

  1. Enter and Edit Text: Simply click inside the text area of the active tab and start typing to enter text. Use the keyboard to navigate, select, delete, or modify the text as desired.

  2. Text Formatting: Use the toolbar to apply formatting to selected text or newly entered text. The toolbar includes options to make text bold, italic, and underline. Click on the respective formatting buttons to apply or remove the formatting from the selected text.

  3. Change Font: To change the font of the selected text or new text, click on the font selection dropdown in the toolbar. Choose a font from the available options to apply it to the selected portion or subsequent text.

  4. Increase Font Size: Click on the "Increase Font Size" button in the toolbar to increase the font size of the selected text or newly entered text. Subsequent text entered will have a larger font size until the button is clicked again.

👨‍💻 Managing Tabs

  1. Create a New Tab: To work on multiple documents simultaneously, click on the "File" menu and select "New Tab" or use the keyboard shortcut. A new tab will be created, allowing you to switch between different documents within the Text Editor.

  2. Switch Tabs: Click on the tabs at the top of the application window to switch between different open documents. Each tab represents a separate file or document.

  3. Close a Tab: To close the currently active tab, click on the close button (usually an 'X' icon) on the tab or select the "Close Tab" option from the "File" menu. If there are unsaved changes, a prompt will appear asking if you want to save the changes before closing the tab.

⬇️ Exporting Files

To export the content of the active tab as a DOCX (Microsoft Word) file, click on the "File" menu and select "Export as DOCX". Choose a location and provide a file name in the file save dialog, then click "Save". The text content will be formatted and saved as a DOCX file.

💾 Prompt to Save Changes

If you attempt to close the application or a tab with unsaved changes, a prompt will appear. This prompt ensures that you don't lose any unsaved work. You will be asked if you want to save the changes before closing. Click "Yes" to save the changes, "No" to discard them, or "Cancel" to continue editing without closing the tab.

🌈 Changing Text Color

To change the color of the selected text or new text, click on the "Change Text Color" button in the toolbar. A color picker dialog will appear, allowing you to choose a new color for the text. Select a color and click "OK" to apply the new text color.

🔺Change Background Color

The "Change Background Color" function enables you to adjust the background color of the selected text or the text entered after clicking the button. Here's how to use it:

Select the text for which you want to modify the background color or position the cursor at the insertion point for the new text. Click on the "Change Background Color" button in the toolbar. A color selection dialog will appear, allowing you to choose a color for the background. Select a color from the dialog, and the background color of the selected text or subsequent text will be updated accordingly.

🔍 Search

The "Search" function allows you to find specific words or phrases within the text. To perform a search, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the "Search" button in the toolbar or use the shortcut key assigned to the search functionality. A search dialog will appear, prompting you to enter the word or phrase you want to find.
  2. Type the desired word or phrase into the search input field.
  3. Click on the "Search" or "Find" button within the dialog to start the search.
  4. The text editor will locate the first occurrence of the searched word or phrase and highlight it.
  5. If you want to find the next occurrence, click on the "Next" button within the search dialog.
  6. The text editor will continue searching for the next occurrence and highlight it accordingly.
