NullPointerException when comparing Map values that are null in base and working instance

The MapDiffer delegates the comparison of those values, even though it could easily detect that the value is unchanged.

Whoops, I accidentally returned the parent node instead of a new one that points to the actual map element and produced a nice infinite loop there.
