pat-depends and non-ASCII characters

pat-depends seems to have a problem with non-ASCII characters. The following statement always evaluates to true:

  <a class="pat-depends" data-pat-depends="condition: email~=göögle.com" href="lorem.html">Show something</a>

regardless of the actual value of email

I know, and spaces it doesn't accept either. Which is a problem that I had earlier.
