Doctests broken in 0.5

Doctests currently seem very broken. I'm currently using git bisect to try to identify when this started:

Ref #15753

A large number of changes breaks them. Not need to bisect. I believe we also have issues for many of the failures. (otherwise, discussion can continue in #15753)
