Fail to import FastMCP

I am trying the quickstart
But after I finished the code part, I failed to run it with error:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'mcp.server.fastmcp'

And I tried again to import it from python cli. I got the same problem:

My machine is MacOS with latest version: 15.2

python: Python 3.13.1

I have to install the latest with the version specified. The default version installed with uv is 1.1.2. I guess this should be updated too when new version available.

will test more with claude desktop later.

I got error:

Error in /message route: Error: SSE connection not established

......
hook.js:608 McpError: MCP error -2: Request timed out

But this message is not clear.
I am using python script but got many errors regarding js. Why?

At last, I got it. The updated example code is not right.
The server should run but the latest code in the document just miss this part.
IF server does not run, the inspector will not connect that the error means.

I guess guys should update the document.

@4t8dd could you explain what you did to get this working? when i run

uv run weather.py --verbose

t just seems to hang.

I run the client like this:

uv run client.py '/Users/me/src/quickstart-resources/weather-server-python/weather.py'

and get:

    from mcp.server.fastmcp import FastMCP
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'mcp.server.fastmcp'

One solution that seems to work is to use

from mcp.server import Server
app = Server(“xxx”)
@app.list_resources()

Replace the
mcp.server.fastmcp

you need to update mcp from 1.1.2 to 1.6.0 :
pip install --upgrade mcp==1.6.0
