It just removes the else keyword and flattens the code (one level), since the if block contains a single line with return ...;

These sorts of pull requests aren't usually merged, because the reverse change would also make a valid PR.

I see Taylor always codes this way.
Imean as flat as possible.
This was written by a contributor in 2015.
Anyway I will avoid such PRs in future

Taylor usually actually usually uses else blocks following a return. Indeed, he likely authored this actual code. :P
