How to bind a key to execute multiple commands in order?

In file-browser-keybinds.json, specifying an array of arrays for command will execute the commands at once. Is it possible to execute them in the listed order? A use case is to run a time-consuming external program to manipulate OS files, and then perform a rescan. Thanks!

os.remove() can't delete a directory tree, and rm -rf is just a demo for an arbitrary CLI command. I'll try something else later.

The only other option I can think of is to use the mpv subprocess command instead of popen. If that doesn't avoid the console popup issue then I don't know if there's a solution.

A recommendation, instead of doing %f and surrounding it with quotes, do %F. The uppercase version runs it through Luas %q string.format method which automatically quotes the string and escapes any special characters. If you're doing commands it will be much safer.
